Several drones have been observed above the Belgian military base Kleine-Brogel, used by NATO, which has prompted Belgian authorities to launch investigations. Defense Minister Theo Francken confirmed on platform X that the detection system is operational and that he will meet with the police to analyze the threat and take measures against the drone pilots. The Kleine-Brogel base, located in Flanders, recently participated in NATO maneuvers for the defense of the Alliance's territory with nuclear weapons, and is also a possible storage location for American nuclear weapons in Europe. Belgium has opened a similar investigation following drone sightings above another military base in Marche-en-Famenne. In the current context, NATO countries are on high alert due to the incursion of drones into European airspace, including in areas of Copenhagen, Munich, and the Baltic region.
