Donald Trump Jr. spent two days hunting in Mongolia alongside Russian businessman Umar Kremlev, president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), according to an investigation published by the Financial Times. The trip took place at the end of August, and the United States Embassy paid $18,715 for accommodation for Secret Service agents who provided protection for the US president’s son.
Financial Times journalists reconstructed the itinerary using flight data, social media posts, official documents, and statements from local guides and officials. Trump Jr. arrived in Ulaanbaatar and then traveled to a hunting camp in Uvs Province.
On August 27, Kremlev left an IBA conference held in Kazakhstan and flew by charter aircraft to Mongolia’s capital. He was reportedly accompanied by Russian businessman Artur Martirosov, an associate of the sanctioned Voskhod fund. One participant said that Trump Jr. and Kremlev avoided appearing together in photographs.
After two days, Kremlev left for Yakutsk, while Trump Jr. reportedly remained in Mongolia for approximately another week. Kremlev has led the IBA since 2020 and is considered close to the Kremlin. Under his leadership, the organization strengthened its ties with Russia, while the IOC withdrew its recognition amid concerns over governance, funding, and integrity.
