Firefighters in Greece received hundreds of emergency calls following a powerful storm that affected southern Athens. A woman died after being struck by a machine swept away by the floods caused by the extreme weather. Additionally, a Coast Guard officer was carried away by the high waves in a port in the Peloponnese.

Greek meteorologists announced that the storm will move towards the eastern part of Greece, and as a precautionary measure, the authorities decided to close the schools.
