Following heavy rains, the port city of Safi in Morocco was hit by devastating floods, causing the death of at least 37 people and injuring another 32. Local authorities reported that the strong storms brought exceptional torrential downpours, flooding 70 homes and shops and damaging a section of road, which led to traffic disruptions.
Images from the city show a torrent of muddy water that swept away cars and submerged a mausoleum. Efforts to search for missing persons continue, and authorities are trying to provide support to the affected population. Meteorologists have warned of heavy rains and storms that will continue across the country.
