Torrential rains in the Beijing area caused floods and landslides, resulting in 38 deaths and the evacuation of more than 80,000 people

At least 38 people have died after torrential rains hit Beijing, causing floods and landslides. The Chinese premier has called for rescue measures and the risk of flooding remains high in the affected regions. The rains damaged infrastructure, disrupting power in more than 130 villages and damaging roads. More than 80,000 people have been evacuated, including 17,000 in the badly affected Miyun district.
