Following heavy rains that lasted for several hours, Angola is facing devastating floods, resulting in at least 15 deaths and over 4,000 flooded homes, according to emergency services. The most affected areas are the capital Luanda and the coastal city of Benguela, where 12 of the victims have been recorded.

Firefighters reported that most residents have been moved from the flooded homes, and many streets have been covered by water. Residents, like Natalia from the Kilamba neighborhood, have lost almost everything, and her house has become a "swimming pool".

Although heavy downpours are common in Southern Africa during the rainy season, researchers emphasize that climate change is increasing the intensity and frequency of these phenomena. In Namibia, the level of the Zambezi River has risen alarmingly, forcing thousands of people to evacuate, and authorities have set up temporary camps for those affected.
