A rare large-scale fire broke out in the Fontainebleau forest, located southeast of Paris, consuming hundreds of hectares of vegetation and forcing the evacuation of approximately 900 homes.

The fire, described by authorities as having an "exceptional magnitude," was fueled by a wave of intense heat, and for the first time, firefighting planes from southern France were mobilized in this region. The fire broke out on Sunday and spread rapidly, affecting traffic on the A6 motorway and important railway lines.

Firefighters estimate that the battle against the flames will last several weeks, and the Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, announced an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, considering that approximately 10 simultaneous hotspots have been identified.

This year, wildfires have affected 32,000 hectares in France, and authorities emphasize the link between climate change and the intensification of these phenomena.
