Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Madrid region, announced on Friday that at least 19,000 people have been evacuated or are isolated due to ''the worst fire in history'' in the region, which has devastated 6,000 hectares.

During a press conference, Ayuso stated that for a region with a high density of housing and population, the situation is a "catastrophe" without precedent, emphasizing that the priority is saving lives. Authorities are monitoring 1,200 elderly people, with four localities being evacuated or in the process of evacuation. Three localities have been placed under isolation, and four road axes are blocked.

So far, no deaths have been recorded, but at least 43 homes have been destroyed. To control the fires in San Martin de Valdeiglesias and Villa del Prado, 31 vehicles and nine aircraft have been mobilized. The situation is evolving rapidly and is considered completely unusual and catastrophic.
