A powerful explosion occurred on Friday evening at a police station in the Nowgam area of Srinagar, Kashmir, resulting in the death of at least eight people and injuring another 27. The incident took place during the examination of explosives confiscated by experts and police. The explosion destroyed the police station and caused fires in the area. Most of the victims were police officers and forensic experts, and some of the injured are in critical condition. This tragedy occurred a few days after a terrorist attack in New Delhi, which also killed eight people. Indian authorities stated that the explosion in the capital was a terrorist attack orchestrated by "anti-national forces." Following the incident in New Delhi, police in Kashmir conducted a series of raids, arresting seven suspects and confiscating weapons and bomb-making materials. Kashmir is a disputed region administered by India and Pakistan, each claiming the entire territory. Indian military forces in the Kashmir region have been fighting against Indian authority since 1989, with India accusing Pakistan of supporting terrorism in the area.
