An explosion occurred at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging plant in Longview, Washington, around 7:15 AM (local time), causing multiple fatalities and serious injuries.
The 80,000-gallon tank, which contained a chemical solution of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide, ruptured, and response teams remained on-site to manage the situation. Authorities confirmed that the incident led to the transport of several patients, including one deceased, to nearby hospitals. Although chemical burns and other injuries were reported, officials stated that there is no immediate threat to the surrounding community.
In another incident, in Southern California, authorities are monitoring an overheated industrial tank containing methyl methacrylate, a flammable substance, after a crack released pressure. Response teams are working to ensure the safety of the area and evacuate affected individuals.
