In a move to strengthen security, Denmark has extended compulsory military service to women, who will register for conscription from 2025. The measure, adopted by the Danish parliament, bringing women in line with existing rules for men, comes amid growing security concerns in Europe. Women will be included in a lottery system for recruitment, and the armed forces are working to adapt equipment to make it more suitable for women. Denmark also plans to increase the length of military service and the number of recruits by 2033.
