Delcy Rodriguez, the interim president of Venezuela, dismissed General Javier Marcano Tábata, the former head of the Presidential Honor Guard, following an operation by American special forces that led to the capture of President Nicolás Maduro. The dismissal is symbolic, considering that the Honor Guard was involved in the confrontations related to this operation. In his place, Rodriguez appointed General Gustavo González López, the former head of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), who will now coordinate both the Honor Guard and the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM).
