The British writer David Walliams, known for his children's literature, was removed from the HarperCollins UK portfolio on Friday following allegations of sexual harassment. According to the Daily Telegraph, the publisher investigated complaints from young female employees who claimed to have been harassed by Walliams. A spokesperson for the author stated that he firmly denies any inappropriate behavior and that he was not informed of any investigation.
Following the investigation, some employees were reportedly kept at a distance from Walliams, and one of them allegedly received a substantial settlement. HarperCollins decided not to publish any new titles signed by Walliams, emphasizing the importance of employee well-being. Additionally, Walliams has sought legal advice. Famous for his successful works, Walliams was also a judge on the show Britain's Got Talent until 2022, when he left the show after controversial comments.
