The new ambassador of the United States in Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, was received on Tuesday by President Nicușor Dan, during a ceremony at the Cotroceni Palace, thus marking the official beginning of his mandate. The ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening the strategic relationship between the US and Romania, highlighting nearly 30 years of collaboration in the fields of defense, security, and economy.

Nirenberg reaffirmed the US commitment to principles such as freedom and respect for fundamental rights, in the context of celebrating 250 years of American independence. He also mentioned Romania's role as a regional leader in energy security and cooperation in strategic energy projects, including in the field of civil nuclear energy.
