The Czech Republic will purchase 44 Leopard 2A8 tanks from Germany, following government approval, to modernize its armed forces. The tanks, which will cost 34.2 billion crowns, are scheduled to be delivered between 2028 and 2031, and discussions for another 19 units are ongoing. Defense Minister Jana Cernochová emphasized the importance of the tanks within heavy brigades and commitments to NATO. Additionally, the Czech Republic will continue to acquire small caliber weapons and light armored vehicles, thereby strengthening military capabilities.
