Andrej Babiš, the future Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, announced that his country will not provide guarantees for aiding Ukraine through a loan financed by frozen Russian assets in the European Union. Babiš called on the European Commission to find alternative solutions for financial support for Ukraine. Although the European Commission recently obtained a favorable vote for the indefinite freezing of Russian assets, several member states, including Belgium, have expressed reservations about using these funds for a loan intended for Ukraine. The Commission's plan is to provide Ukraine with a loan of 90 billion euros, with the possibility of extending it to 165 billion, to be repaid after Russia pays 'war reparations.' Russia reacted by accusing the European Union of theft and threatening legal reprisals.
