Almost a week after a major cyber attack on the French Ministry of the Interior, the postal service, La Poste, was affected by a 'denial of service' attack, disrupting the distribution of packages and correspondence, although services remain assured. Despite the impact on online operations, the banking division of the company, La Banque Postale, confirmed that online payments are possible with SMS authentication and that there are no issues with customer data.
The incident occurred during the busy holiday season, when La Poste handles 180 million packages. Additionally, the BPCE group (Banque Populaire, Caisse d'épargne) experienced a temporary malfunction, but operations have returned to normal. La Poste, a public company essential to the French economy, plays a crucial role in the daily life of the population.
