An American-Israeli joint airstrike hit near the nuclear facility at Bushehr in southern Iran on Saturday, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA. This was the fourth attack on the area along the Gulf coast since the beginning of the conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel on February 28. IRNA reported that a projectile struck an area near the facility, killing a security agent but without causing significant damage to the nuclear facility. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that such attacks could lead to dangerous radioactive leaks for the residents of the Gulf. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed the attack, stating that no increase in radiation levels had been reported. IAEA Director Rafael Grossi called for maximum military restraint to avoid the risks of a nuclear accident. The Bushehr facility, Iran's only nuclear power plant, has been operational since 2011, and a second block is under construction by the Russian company Rosatom. Evacuations of Russian citizens from the site are planned for next week.
