A new optical imaging system, developed in China, would allow detailed mass surveillance from a distance of 100km, raising privacy concerns.

The system, developed by China's Aerospace Information Research Institute, uses laser technology to capture images with 100 times the clarity of current surveillance cameras. This raises concerns about the possibility of continued global surveillance, especially as other countries develop similar technologies.
