Xu Zewei, 33, was arrested on July 3 at Milan airport on US charges of computer espionage. He allegedly hacked into systems in Texas in 2020 targeting COVID-19 vaccine research. His arrest was made on an international warrant issued in November 2023, and he is now awaiting a decision on extradition. Xu is suspected of conspiracy to commit computer fraud and unauthorized access to protected computers.
