According to the Chinese government, economic growth has slowed to 4.5% in the last quarter of the year, the slowest pace since the end of 2022. Although the economy grew by 4.8% annually in the previous quarter, Chinese leaders are trying to stimulate faster expansion, following a decline in the real estate sector and disruptions caused by the pandemic. Strong exports have offset weak consumer spending and business investments, contributing to a record trade surplus of 1.2 trillion dollars.

However, domestic demand remains a priority, but the effects of stimulus policies have been limited. Stabilizing the real estate market is essential to revitalize public confidence and household consumption. While investments in advanced technology remain a priority, many citizens and small businesses are facing economic difficulties. Forecasts suggest slower economic growth in 2026, with Deutsche Bank estimating an expansion of about 4.5%. Beijing desires a growing economy to maintain social stability, aiming for a GDP per capita of 20,000 dollars by 2035.
