China has decided to restrict exports to Japan of dual-use goods amid tensions related to Taiwan.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday that it will tighten controls on exports to Japan, regarding goods that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. The decision comes amid rising tensions between Beijing and Tokyo, especially after recent statements by the head of the Japanese government, Sanae Takaichi, who suggested that Japan could intervene militarily in the event of an attack on Taiwan.

China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has reacted vehemently to these statements, viewing them as interference in its internal affairs. The ministry's spokesperson emphasized that the export of dual-use goods will be prohibited for Japanese military users and for anyone contributing to strengthening Japan's military capabilities.
