Cerberus Capital Management and billionaire Dean Metropoulos tried to acquire cereal maker WK Kellogg's, but their offer was rejected in favor of Ferrero Group, which agreed to a $3.1 billion deal. Cerberus, with retail experience, and Metropoulos, known in the food industry, were advised by UBS and Macquarie.
