A catamaran carrying 55 passengers from the German cruise ship Mein Schiff 1 sank in the Samaná Bay, Dominican Republic, due to a leak. The incident occurred during a sunset excursion, and passengers, including children and elderly individuals, were forced to swim to stay afloat.

Rescue teams responded quickly, managing to save all passengers, although some suffered minor injuries. The Dominican Republic's Coast Guard confirmed that the incident was caused by a hull defect and has launched an investigation to determine responsibilities. The passengers were subsequently returned to the cruise ship and received compensation, continuing their journey to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
