On Thursday, a boat loaded with migrants capsized on the Sava River, near the city of Slavonski Brod, close to the border with Bosnia. The incident occurred in dense fog conditions, and emergency teams were alerted around 5:30 AM when people were reported in the water. Firefighters quickly intervened with specialized boats and managed to rescue several individuals, eight of whom were transported to the hospital for medical care. Authorities announced that a citizen from Bosnia is suspected of human trafficking and has been detained, pending further questioning. The nationalities of the migrants have not been disclosed, but it is known that many of them come from conflict-affected or impoverished areas, risking dangerous routes to reach Western Europe, often with the help of traffickers.
