In the House of Commons, Andy Burnham described as antisemitic the motion adopted by the Green Party, which defines Zionism as support for an ethno-nationalist Jewish state. The document also promotes the creation of a single democratic Palestinian state throughout the territory of historic Palestine.
Burnham stated that the Labour Party cannot support a partnership with a party that adopts such a position. It is unclear whether the statement also applies to local cooperation between Labour and the Greens. Green Party leader Zack Polanski said he would not have supported the motion, but did not vote, as he was involved in an election campaign. Former leaders Caroline Lucas and Adrian Ramsay opposed it, while deputy co-leader Mothin Ali supported it. The party later stated that it defends both Palestinian and Jewish rights and rejects all discrimination.
