Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant is operational, despite the dramatic decrease in the Danube's flow.

In the context of the dramatic decrease in the Danube's flow, Bulgaria has established a working group to ensure the operation of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant. The current flow values are the lowest in recent decades, caused by heat waves and reduced precipitation in Western and Central Europe.

Iva Petrova, the Bulgarian Minister of Energy, is collaborating with her Serbian counterpart, Dubravka Djedovic, to maintain the Danube level at Kozloduy above critical thresholds.

This is achieved by managing the Djerdap Hydropower Complex, administered by Serbia and Romania. The nuclear power plants at Kozloduy are operating according to schedule, and the water from the Danube is essential for cooling the facility.

In contrast, Hungary has suspended the operation of the Paks plant, and Romania has shut down Unit 1 at Cernavodă, considering the shutdown of Unit 2.
