The Bulgarian Ministry of Defense announced measures to enhance security on the Black Sea coast, following the explosion of a Ukrainian maritime drone in the port of Constanța. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning, prompted Bulgarian authorities to use coastal radars, naval patrols, and military helicopters to monitor the area. Additionally, naval units were deployed in the northern part of the coast, and drones will be used to improve observation capabilities.
The Bulgarian ministry mentioned that there is constant coordination with the Romanian Navy and NATO's Allied Maritime Command. Defense Minister Dimitar Stoianov assured the public that there is no cause for concern; however, as a precautionary measure, the ferry service from Varna has been suspended, and fishermen have been advised not to go out to sea. The drone, which exploded without causing casualties, was confirmed by the Ukrainian Naval Forces to have been lost control of due to Russian jamming.
