Bulgaria, the poorest nation in the EU, is preparing to adopt the euro on January 1, thus becoming the 21st country in the eurozone. Despite expectations of economic stimulus, there are concerns about inflation and Russian disinformation affecting citizens' trust.

A recent survey shows that 51% of Bulgarians support the transition to the euro, while 45% oppose it. Political instability and corruption have contributed to the polarization of public opinion. Many Bulgarians, especially those in rural areas and retirees, fear rising prices during the transition. Additionally, a network of disinformation related to Russia has attempted to undermine support for the euro. However, some citizens remain optimistic, believing that adopting the euro will bring long-term benefits.
