According to Eurostat, Bulgaria had the lowest consumer prices in the European Union in 2024, at 40% below the EU average. Although overall prices are low, food was 87% of the EU average, with high prices for dairy and oil. Bulgaria stands out with the cheapest transportation services and tobacco products, but clothing and energy prices are also among the lowest. By comparison, Romania and other countries in the region have lower prices for many food goods.
