Belgian authorities announced the interception of a ship from Russia's 'phantom fleet' by the Special Forces, which took place in the North Sea. Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prévot stated that the ship will be confiscated upon arrival at the port of Zeebruges. These ships are known for circumventing European sanctions to transport Russian oil, thus contributing to the financing of the war in Ukraine. Defense Minister Theo Francken emphasized the importance of Belgium's actions within NATO and the EU, stating that each intercepted ship is a step towards stopping Russian aggression.
