An investigation by BBC Panorama and the Bureau of Investigative Journalism alleges that Deloitte Cyprus helped falsify documents to conceal Roman Abramovich’s wealth and avoid paying considerable taxes.
The company-approved accounts did not mention assets worth $672 million, including superyachts, mansions, and private jets. A lawyer specializing in financial law described the scheme as obvious tax evasion.
Abramovich’s lawyers deny the allegations and state that there is no evidence he knew about, authorized, or coordinated the falsification of the documents. Deloitte Cyprus said that it complies with applicable laws. The report also raises questions about the conduct of the oligarch’s professional advisers.
