The authorities in Bangladesh have decided to close universities to reduce energy consumption amid the energy crisis.

Bangladesh has announced the closure of all public and private universities as a measure to save energy, following the energy crisis caused by conflicts in the Middle East. Officials emphasize that university campuses consume a lot of electricity for various facilities, and the early closure will help reduce pressure on the already overloaded energy system. Currently, public and private schools are closed for the holy month of Ramadan, which will extend the closure period of educational institutions. Bangladesh is facing uncertainties related to fuel supply, considering that 95% of its energy comes from imports. Additionally, authorities have imposed daily limits on fuel sales, in the context of public panic and excessive stockpiling. The gas crisis has led to the shutdown of operations at most fertilizer factories, and officials from the Ministry of Energy state that they are doing everything possible to ensure the stability of energy supply.
