Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker stated that Austria is open to discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the importance of maintaining communication channels. This statement follows the position of French President Emmanuel Macron, who advocated for the resumption of dialogue with Russia. Stocker mentioned that Vienna could be a suitable place for these discussions, but he did not present himself as a mediator.
He also emphasized that if Putin is interested in negotiations, he will talk to anyone who has the necessary mandate. Macron insisted on organizing a unified European approach in the dialogue with Russia, highlighting that, at present, Russia does not want peace. He stressed the need to build a new security architecture in Europe once a peace agreement is reached between Moscow and Kiev.
