The UN Drugs and Crime Report shows that Australia and New Zealand have the highest per capita cocaine consumption, with 3% of people aged 15-64 using the drug in 2023. Global cocaine production rose 34% to 3,700 tons. Trafficking routes have diversified, with the Pacific Islands used as transit points. Cocaine seizures in Oceania have reached record levels, spurred by buying power and the difficulty of policing the extensive coastline.
