Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles has announced the purchase of 11 Mogami-class frigates for $6 billion, marking the largest-ever defense deal between Japan and Australia. The frigates, which will replace older Anzac-class ships, are equipped with advanced technology, including a vertical launch system for Tomahawk missiles. Australia is restructuring its armed forces to meet naval challenges in the region, particularly from China. The frigates are expected to be delivered by 2030.
