The Italian police have arrested several individuals and issued international arrest warrants for two people located abroad, as part of an investigation into three Italian associations suspected of financing the Islamist movement Hamas. These individuals are accused of having financed, with approximately several million euros, associations linked to Hamas, under the pretext of supporting the Palestinian people. Although the official purpose of the associations was humanitarian, over 71% of the funds were directed towards Hamas or associated entities. Among those arrested is Mohammad Hannoun, the president of the Palestinian Association in Italy. Italian authorities believe that these associations are part of a complex Hamas project, having active cells abroad. Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi emphasized the importance of this cooperation to uncover the hidden activities of terrorist organizations.
