14 members of the Syrian security forces were killed in clashes while trying to arrest an Assad regime official.

The clashes took place in Tartous province in the west of the country when security forces tried to arrest a government official accused of crimes in Saydnaya prison. He was a former director of military justice, accused of issuing death sentences and arbitrary rulings against thousands of detainees.
