The incident was confirmed on Wednesday by U.S. officials, who stated that the base was placed on lockdown Tuesday evening, around 5:30 PM local time, after reports of an 'active shooter' near a store on the base.

Security forces responded quickly, and the lockdown measures were lifted after authorities determined that there was no longer an immediate threat. The store near the incident site was temporarily closed.
