The Argentine government has proposed Rafael Grossi, the current Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Argentine Foreign Minister, Pablo Quirno, highlighted Grossi's achievements in the last six years at the IAEA, emphasizing his leadership capacity in the face of international challenges. Grossi, at 64 years old, has a solid diplomatic career and remarkable academic education, including a PhD in History and International Politics. The selection process for the new UN Secretary-General has begun, and Grossi joins other notable candidates, such as Michelle Bachelet and Jacinda Ardern, in the race to succeed Antonio Guterres in 2027.
