The Argentine government officially announced on Tuesday its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), a decision announced a year ago by Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno. This action comes in response to criticisms from the Milei administration regarding the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the WHO, similar to the withdrawal announced by former American President Donald Trump.
Argentina stated that the WHO recommendations are ineffective, being influenced more by political interests than by science. Quirno emphasized that Argentina will continue to promote international cooperation in the field of health through bilateral agreements and regional forums, maintaining its sovereignty in health decisions. The withdrawal process has been completed according to the timelines set by international treaties.
