The parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic could be won by the populist party of Andrej Babis, former prime minister of the country, according to opinion polls.

Opinion polls suggest that Andrej Babis, former prime minister and billionaire, could win the elections in the Czech Republic, thus returning to power on the political scene. A victory would mean his alignment with populist leaders from Hungary and Slovakia, who have adopted critical positions against sanctions against Russia and have refused to support Ukraine militarily. The current pro-Western coalition, led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala, bases its campaign on security and freedom, warning about threats from Moscow.
