The Belgian authorities have announced the return of an ancient sarcophagus to Egypt that was confiscated in 2015, following a request from an Egyptian court. The sarcophagus, dating back to the Ptolemaic period, was handed over to the Egyptian ambassador after a ten-year investigation. The artifact, which belonged to a member of Egyptian high society, has been kept at the Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels. Hieroglyphs on the sarcophagus identify its former occupant as 'Pa-di-Hor-pa-khered', transformed into the god Osiris.
