The government plane of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, which arrived at the EU – Western Balkans summit, was involved in an accident at Brussels airport. A vehicle with a mobile ladder crushed the aircraft, making it unusable for flight. Fico stated that the incident affected the start of the summit, mentioning that the plane must be left at the airport.
The Slovak Prime Minister attended the meeting of EU leaders with heads of state from the Western Balkans, and the following morning he was scheduled to participate in an informal meeting on industry and competitiveness. The summit will address important topics such as funding for Ukraine, European security, and EU enlargement, and Fico will return to Slovakia by Friday.
