An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 occurred on Saturday evening, 32 km from the city of Yilan, on the northeast coast of Taiwan, according to the Central Weather Administration. The earthquake, which took place at 11:05 PM local time, was felt in the capital Taipei, but authorities reported no significant damage. Additionally, no tsunami warning was issued. However, the earthquake prompted the evacuation of some TSMC buildings, the world's largest chip manufacturer, which ensured that safety systems are functioning normally. Taiwan is essential for the global technology sector, and any disruption in chip production could affect supply chains worldwide. Taiwan is known for its seismic activity, having recorded devastating earthquakes in the past.
