On Thursday, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded on Simeulue Island, located northwest of Sumatra, Indonesia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake occurred at 11:56 local time (6:56 AM Romania time) and was located at a depth of 25 kilometers. Authorities did not immediately report any damage or casualties, and the USGS did not mention the risk of a tsunami. Residents of the island felt several aftershocks and left their homes to ensure their safety. The information is intended for personal use only.
