On the weekend, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6 occurred in the Ancash region, north of Lima, injuring at least 25 people. The quake struck on Saturday evening at 21:51 local time, near the port city of Chimbote. The Ministry of Health reported that of the 25 injured, 12 required hospitalization, while 13 were discharged. In Chimbote, a city with a population of approximately 500,000, the main hospital, schools, and several homes were damaged. Images from local media and video recordings from social networks show cracked buildings and items scattered in supermarkets.
