The General Confederation of Workers in Greece (GSEE) has announced a 24-hour general strike scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, inviting all workers to join the mobilizations across the country, according to the Greek press.
The central rally will take place at 11:00 AM in Klathmonos Square in Athens. GSEE emphasizes that May 1st is not only a day of commemoration but also an opportunity to raise contemporary demands in a labor market that is constantly changing, affecting the safety and dignity of workers. The union highlights that rapid technological developments pose a challenge and a threat to thousands of jobs.
Additionally, the rising cost of living, housing pressure, energy costs, and low wages contribute to an unbearable daily reality for many workers.
