A survey conducted by the think tank Terra Nova shows that during the first round of municipal elections in France, 16% of voters used artificial intelligence to decide their vote. The study, carried out on a sample of 4,145 voters, identified three types of usage: 7% were reassured by a choice already made, 5% changed their mind under the influence of artificial intelligence, and 4% turned to it to decide in the absence of a clear option.

Additionally, 11% of respondents consulted a generative artificial intelligence tool during the campaign, although this was the last source of information used, after leaflets and discussions with friends. The use of artificial intelligence is more common among men and young people, with 35% of those aged between 18 and 24 resorting to this technology. Jean-Daniel Lévy, the author of the study, emphasizes that although the use of AI is limited, its influence could significantly increase in future presidential elections, having the potential to affect political decisions.
