Environmental officials on the Australian island of Tasmania have discovered 157 dolphins stranded on a beach, 21 of which were found dead.

<p>136 dolphins were alive at the time of the discovery, these were "false killer whales", a species of predatory dolphin. The response operation is difficult because of the site's inaccessibility and ocean conditions. Wildlife experts and veterinarians are involved in managing the situation.
